    Description

(Please re-assign to appropriate Component if "Old Core" is wrong - couln't find something which I considered more appropriate in the list. I also hope this is no duplicate - I searched JIRA and could not find anything related. And last but not least I hope this feature does not already exist and I just missed it somehow.)

In case of Section Editing, MediaWiki uses the Section Caption as an edit comment if the user does not provide a comment herself. (I think it also enhanced a manually entered comment with the information which section was being edited.)

I consider this to be a helpful feature, as it makes clear at first glance which part of the page was being revised, even if the user forgot to mention that or his comment was unclear, and without having to look up the actual diff for each new revision.

This probably should not be too hard to implement and would be a "nice to have".
