The status is marked as "In Progress", but the Assignee is "Unassigned Task". Is someone already working on this?

Zhong ZHENG on the mailing tell use he is working on a month ago. I will send him a mail to know if he is always on and i tell you. Maybe you can work together on.

I would be happy to help out, but I am new to XWiki, and I'm still trying to figure out how things are done right now. I better learn that first before helping to change the build process to Maven. I would love to see this project use Maven 2 though!

I've started working on this again. This is what I've posted to the xwiki dev list:

Hi,

As a first approach (we'll need more refinements later on) I'd like to
propose the following changes to the xwiki/trunk directory and build
structure:

xwiki/trunk
  |_ core/
  |_ web/
  |_ web-exo/
  |_ distribution/

Where:

core/ : Generates the xwiki.jar artifact
web/ : Generates the xwiki.war artifact
web-exo/ : Generates the xwiki-exo.war artifact
distribution/ : Generates the distributions (binary and sources)

I'm proposing to make these changes one by one and to always keep the
current build working. Of course I'm volunteering to make the changes.

The M2 build is good enough now for us to consider that it exists and can be used.

It's not finished though but improvements can be done as separate JIRA issues.
