We need a pan-unicode font set like the STIX fonts (http://www.stixfonts.org/).

stixfonts is late, so we can't solve this now.

Problem: FOP needs a configuration file, as the in-code configuration is very limited, but I don't know how to retrieve that file, as a relative path will be relative to where the server was started from, and an absolute path is soooo platform dependent. I'll try to find a nice way around this problem.

Thanks to Chris Phelan, who gave me some hints in a private mail (and to the improvements in the latest FOP release), I think it is possible to have a nice way to configure FOP.

all the proposals here seem to speak about math fonts.

Pan unicode is like... with all arabic characters as well?

Added FreeFont as the default font.

It has support for most languages, except some Asian ones.
