Ask state from group seems to send messages that never arrive

When I run ask state from group some inital messages seem to get no response. The fix in a previous bug allowed to not end up in a deadlock but one might wonder what these messages are:

At one point the ask from state seems to work but it's not clear if it is when finally receiving an answer for this message.
