Many uneeded saves of the user profile when using a list property for LDAP sync

I am using the feature added by XWIKI-12771 , synchronising a list value from LDAP with a newly added list property in the XWiki.XWikiUsers class .
My list property is of type Database list, has multiple select enabled but not relational storage .
The result I get is multiple saves per day of the user profile with the message "Synchronized user profile with LDAP server" . Goes even up to 20 times per day, with 5 saves in the same minute. When comparing these versions, there are no real differences between these versions, the UI displays "No changes" .
