List of orphaned documents seems incorrect

I have the "Orphaned pages" panel present and it shows a huge list of pages as orphaned. Most of them are not orphaned though: when I open them I can often find them linked on their parent page. In addition, some pages occur twice there, and sometimes the pages marked in that list have "create document" links (a link with a question mark) - indicating that the page does not exist at all...

I am trying to use the multilanguage feature here and it seems to be very buggy; this might have something to do with that.
