Page content is updated twice

Whenever the page content is updated (by, e.g., clicking a link in the breadcrumb), there are two update operations actually happening.

One seems to be the intended one, but the second one usually includes broken links.

They also happen in random order. For some reason, when using Shoelace, the broken one usually comes second, which makes the issue of broken links more easily reproducible.
