ExJS search UI fails silently

    Description

      When searching, the index is queried for a result in json.

      If it fails being delivered (with an internal server error), the please-wait spins eternally.

      If it is delivered but is invalid data (e.g. badly formed json), the display is not updated.

      Both results are inacceptable.
