Description
Currently the following URL allows to view a discussion page which is quite similar to the spec for the "Topic View"
https://docs.google.com/a/xwiki.com/file/d/0BwrD6dWGWY3-MXRFQkFQM3Qwbkk/edit
Now before we change the HTML so that max can make it look like his design, we need to implement the Discussion view. The discussion view is similar to the Topic view but:
- no comments are displayed
- the counting of number of comments is the sum of comments of the topics inside the discussion
- 3 ways of sorting discussions exist
Other features are still available:
- You can like each topic in the same way you can like the answer inside the topic
Currently a Topic is a wiki page which contains child pages which contain a ConversationClass object ( http://dev.gpsnetwork.org/xwiki/bin/edit/XWiki/ConversationClass?editor=class ) which has a type and a status field. The description of the topic is stored as a first comment (which is fine).
What I propose is to add a ConversationClass object to the topic itself and use the content field of the page to store the description of the topic (since it does not count in the number of comments - to verify). This would allow to use the same "new discussion" button but have a slightly different behavior if we are in the Discussion or in the Topic page
To know if we are in a Discussion or Topic page we could add a hidden field in the ConversationClass to know the mode.
We can replace the ?viewer=conversations by triggering the view by an include instead of the parameter (the viewer thing was opcalia specific because it was an article at the same time it can have discussions).
So the structure of pages would be (I'm showing the case of a group)
Group_MyGroup.Discussions includes a script which shows the list of topics which are stored in
Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic1 (with parent Group_MyGroup.Discussions)
Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic1_Answer1 (with parent Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic1)
Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic1_Answer2 (with parent Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic1)
Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic1_Answer3 (with parent Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic1)
Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic2 (with parent Group_MyGroup.Discussions)
Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic2_Answer1 (with parent Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic2)
Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic2_Answer2 (with parent Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic2)
Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic2_Answer3 (with parent Discussions_Group_MyGroup.Topic2)
Topic1 and Topic2 replaced by the title of the topic or answer.
