Standalone Code macro is not rendered properly in Markdown syntax

When using markdown 1.1 with CKE editor 1.17 on xwiki 9.7 codeblocks are not handles correctly.

When using either three backtics ``` or 4 spaces it only lasts for on "edit". (A) If a page with a codeblock is reopen (B) for edit the formatting is changes (C), such that whitespaces before the ``` is removed.
This causes the the formatting to change alot when rendered (D) and if reopened a second time (E) 2 of the thre backtics are removed.

If the plain text editor is used, there is no changes to the formatting which i why I have a hunch that it is related to the CKE editor.
Using 4 spaces to indicate a codeblock behaves similar.
