backspace during simultaneous editing doesn't work

To reproduce:

• Find a friend to edit with
• Open the same document in two windows on different computers
• Type a few sentences into the document.
• Have your friend begin to type continuously in another part of the document.
• Place your cursor at the end of your sentences and attempt to delete the ending characters using backspace.
• Observe that characters are sometimes reinserted into their original position.
