Usability : Field "Panels displayed on the left" (or right)

In order to set the display of a panels, admin has to use edit object mode. It should be more friendly to have a field exposed here : http://localhost:8383/xwiki/bin/admin/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?editor=globaladmin&section=Presentation.
It was working like that previously (1.5.1).
