Code display box too small

The scrollable box in which you display code snippets is never as wide as its containing box and thus usually has
both horizontal and vertical scroll bars. This is bad ui design. Code is impossible to read easily, select or copy. Scroll bars should be avoided whenever possible. I can see no justification for horizontal scrollbars except where panning makes sense. Vertical scroll bars can be replaced with persistent up and down buttons.
