Description
The pdf export feature allows users to select full hierarchies of pages (children and all descendants), to export into a single PDF.
However, when 2 users with identical rights are choosing this option, the behaviour may not be the same, because it depends on the setting to display hidden pages on export.
It is very interesting, for a user that has hidden pages activated, to be able to skip the hidden pages from the export, with a checkbox (to obtain the non-technical content export).
Of course, most of the users (except for superadmin), can update their hidden pages configuration temporarily, for the time the export is done, to obtain the same result.
However, a configuration would be nicer for 2 reasons, of which one is an actual issue, one is a nice to have:
- the issue: as a user, when I select the whole page tree for the export, I don't know whether there are hidden pages in the tree and I should disable the hidden pages display in my profile before starting the export
- even if I could add a mental rule for myself to always do it, as there is nothing on the screen that reminds me of it, I will forget to think about it when I perform an export and then I will have a potentially huge pdf with "noise" in it, without knowing about it. Having an option is nice because it also reminds that there is this aspect to take into account.
- the nice to have: it saves some clicks, I don't have to disable it then export then enable it back.
- note that I expect most of the pdf exports to not be wanted with hidden pages in them, because of the nature of the pdf exports .
Note: it would be nice if this option could be added as a selection option on the tree, so that I can navigate around and add exceptions to the rule, but if it's hard to achieve because of how that selection of pages is handled, having it as an option on the export will do the job.
