      Description

      Seems like regression of http://jira.xwiki.org/jira/browse/XWIKI-2592 ...

      I set up empty XWiki Enterpise from xwiki-enterprise-web-2.2-rc-2.war. Then I went to XWIKI / ADMINISTER SPACE: XWIKI and tried to import xwiki-enterprise-wiki-2.2-rc-2.xar

      The following error message was displayed

      Importing xwiki-application-administration-1.2.xar: Error while preparing importing

          * 0 Document(s) installed
          * 0 Document(s) skipped
          * 0 Document(s) with error

      When I manually changed URL in browser from
      /xwiki/bin/admin/Main/WebPreferences
      to
      /xwiki/bin/import/Main/WebPreferences
      the XAR imported fine

        Changing the max_allowed_packet size on an SQL server seemed to help.

        I modified the top menu to display the space administration entry only when the administration application is installed.

        danskal I think you're making some confusion. If you start a fresh XWiki 7.0 with an empty database you should get the Distribution Wizard. If you discard it (click on Later or Never) then you have two options:

        • register a new user, but it won't have administration rights so you won't be able to access the space administration as this issue says
        • enable the superadmin user from xwiki.cfg and restart. In this case you can access only the wiki administration from the top menu, which has the proper URL and you can import your XAR. The space menu has only "Go to space", so no "Administer space" entry.

        In case you are upgrading from an older version of XWiki the database is not empty so it's not in the scope of this issue.

        Thanks Marius, I think I realised what happened - I had already enabled superadmin, but I was following some instructions which I guess I assumed were for the latest version which included a URL which led me to this page which didn't work. So I guess that for me, the bug was that this page (xwiki/bin/admin/Main/WebPreferences) appears to work, but doesn't. Should it exist at all???? Can't it be deleted from the distribution, or at least redirect to the correct page?
