Refine your search - date format

It would be great if we could change the current date format in the "Refine your search" "Date" and "Creation Date" categories in order to make the dates easier to read. What we currently have is in the following form: 2013-09-25T07:09:54Z , which makes it a bit hard to read, especially in a column (please see attached).
