Office Importer resizes and converts images imported from docx

When importing a docx containing images, see attached original image6.png, extracted directly via unzipping the docx from the officedocxfile\word\media directory the importer seems to

• resize the image
• convert the png to gif

resulting in a much worse resolution than in the original image in the docx file, see attached officedocxfile_html_2b99c5607cc7513e.gif produced by xwiki/office importer.

The installed office version is LibreOffice 7.1.2.2, XWiki is configured to manage it internally.

Note: Looks like the problem was mentioned in the forums in the past: https://forum.xwiki.org/t/office-importer-application-image-issue/6605 but I couldn't find any existing issue neither still open nor closed during my search.
