Livedata table overflows horizontally for container sizes in which livetable fits perfectly fine

The livedata table seems to require more room horizontally than an equivalent livetable the data doesn't really justify it.

For example, for the Movies example application in the help module, after configuring a new column, on a ~1380px window (content column is ~860px) (and forcing a clear:right above the table to display the livedata below the AWM toolbox), I have the following result:

I had to add 4 more columns before getting the livetable to overflow horizontally by one column, and by that time about 40% of the content was out of the screen for the livedata (5 columns):
