Whitespace to the right of a mention is not properly displayed when the mention is inside a text, in view mode: appears stuck to the text

How to reproduce:

• put the following content in a page:

  test {{mention reference="XWiki.kbernick" anchor="XWiki-kbernick-i3phd9"/}} text after
  

  • probably best to have a user called kbernick or use a user that exists on your wiki
• save and view

Expected result:
The mention is displayed properly separated by the text surrounding it by the 2 whitespaces from that appear in the wiki syntax surrounding the mention macro.

Actual result:
The space on the left is displayed fine while the text on the right is not displayed fine, the text appears stuck to the mention decoration:

The space appears like it's inside the mention decoration.

Note 1: in edit mode the whitespace is properly displayed:

This is especially confusing as saving this content now makes it look broken after save.

Note 2: if the mention is at the beginning of the line, like this:
