The notifications list contains absolute URLs to current wiki

I upgraded to 11x from 9x a few weeks ago. all went well except the notifications have incorrect links. Instead of displaying links to the xwiki.domain_name it points to localhost:8080, see screenshot below - I mouse over 'Product Revaluations' link (circled in blue) and this points to localhost - see blue arrow pointing.

The exact same issue is present in the notifications macro and activity (legacy) macro.
